Woodstock AIR: Housed Exhibition

From April 27 to June 16, 2019, I was featured in the "Woodstock AIR: Housed" exhibition at the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW), a notable institution supporting photography-based artists of color. The exhibition celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the Woodstock AIR program, created to expand the dialogue around diversity, race, and identity within the context of social justice. The gallery reception on May 4 highlighted the significant contributions of artists like Brittney Cathey-Adams, Sophia Nahli Allison, Eyakem Gulilat, Tomiko Jones, Alma Leiva, Pixy Liao, and Paul Mpagi Sepuya.

The exhibition showcased photographs created at the artist house, a space purchased by CPW in 2017 to provide living and work space for resident artists. This unique environment, where painter Henry Mattson once worked, offered beautiful light and inspiration for photographers, resulting in diverse and stunning works. My participation in this exhibition underscored the importance of accessibility, representation, and diversity in contemporary photography, contributing to the broader discourse on these critical issues.

Documented through high-quality prints and comprehensive records, the exhibition received support from esteemed organizations such as the National Endowment for the Arts, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and the New York State Council on the Arts. The exhibition's impact was further amplified by the generous contributions of individual donors and foundations, ensuring the continued success and significance of the Woodstock AIR program. This event highlighted the powerful work of underrepresented artists and reinforced my commitment to advancing social justice through photography.
